• Do1thing is a 12-month program that makes it easy for you to prepare yourself, your family, and your community for emergencies and disasters. The do1thing program breaks the job of emergency preparedness into 12 smaller monthly pieces:

o Each month, the program focuses on one area of emergency preparedness and provides a variety of actions that you can take to become better prepared.

o If you do1thing each month, by the time a year has passed, you will have taken big steps towards preparing yourself, your family, and your community for emergencies and disasters.

• First Aid

o Do you know what to do in a medical emergency? Actions you take in the first few minutes after an injury or other medical incident may save someone’s life. You don’t need a lot of training to make a big difference.

o THE GOAL: Be prepared to deal with medical emergencies while waiting for first responders.

o Do One Thing (choose one thing to do this month):

 Buy readymade first aid kits for your home and your car.
 Make a first aid kit from items you have at home or can purchase for low cost.
 Take training in first aid and CPR.
 Take a pet first aid class.
 Make sure everyone knows where the first aid kits are located.
