Advisory

Sheriff's Office Emergency Management continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Florence. We will keep you informed

Good Evening,

The Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Management Division continues to closely monitor Tropical Storm Florence, as it moves westward through the Atlantic Ocean. As of late this afternoon, it is still too early to tell if the storm will significantly impact Beaufort County. However, swells from Tropical Storm Florence are expected to arrive in Beaufort County this weekend. Swells result in dangerous surge and rip currents, so we urge anyone visiting our beaches to remain mindful of these conditions and to exercise caution. We will continue to coordinate with governmental and public utility entities and keep you advised of any updates on Hurricane Florence.

In advance, we would like to remind you to only believe information released by trusted sources and to avoid misinformation spread through social media. Please tell your family and friends to sign up for NIXLE www.nixle.com to receive up-to-date information. We also encourage you to monitor the storm on your own through the National Weather Service Charleston https://www.weather.gov/chs/

As always, the Sheriff's Office appreciates your partnership and continued commitment to the safety of our community.
