Deps respond to a single vehicle traffic collision involving a motorcycle at Peach Ave near Atlantic St earlier today

DATE/TIME: September 6, 2018 / 12:00 PM

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Peach Avenue x Atlantic Street, Hesperia

VICTIM(S): White Male Adult / Pending Positive Identification

SUMMARY:
On September 6, 2018, at about 12:00 PM, deputies from the Hesperia Station responded to a reported single vehicle motorcycle traffic collision on Peach Avenue near Atlantic Street. The reporting party told Sheriff's Dispatch that they came across the collision off the roadway while passing by the area, and did not report any other vehicle around or involved. Upon arrival, deputies located the collision scene east of Peach Avenue in a vacant lot off the roadway. The motorcycle rider, a white male adult, was unresponsive and determined to have suffered fatal injuries during the collision.

Investigators from the Hesperia Station Traffic Division initiated an investigation and were able to determine that the motorcycle rider had been traveling south on Peach Ave., on a 2002, Grey Suzuki RS sport bike, at an unknown speed. For reasons still under investigation, the rider crossed over the north bound lane of travel, leaving the roadway onto the north bound shoulder. The rider lost control in the open field, due to the terrain and came to rest in the vacant lot on the east side of Peach Ave., after being ejected off the motorcycle. The rider and motorcycle came to rest in thick vegetation on the property and it is believed by evidence at the scene that the collision had occurred several hours earlier when it was still dark out.

Investigators are continuing to process the scene of the collision to determine the exact cause of the collision and the Coroner will assist in making positive identification of the rider. Peach Avenue was only closed momentarily during the investigation as the scene was processed.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any information that may assist investigators is asked to contact Deputy Jeremy Deberg or Sergeant Doug Hubbard at the Hesperia Station.
