Kathleen Dahl arrested and charged with multiple crimes for drunk driving crash with injuries.

At 8:09 PM on September 4, 2018, Anchorage Police responded to the intersection of Cleo Avenue and Lake Otis Parkway in reference to a vehicle hitting a light pole. Initial indications are that 39-year-old Kathleen T. Dahl was driving southbound on Lake Otis in a 1991 Chevy pickup while speeding, swerving, and hitting the curb.  When Dahl reached the southeast corner of Cleo and Lake Otis, she drove onto the sidewalk and hit a light pole.  The pole fell over and hit the Chevy, a juvenile pedestrian, and the pedestrian’s dog.  The dog died at the scene and the pedestrian’s leg was seriously injured; she was transported to the hospital for treatment of her non-life-threatening injury.
Officers contacted Dahl who remained at the crash site after witnesses took the keys from her vehicle.  Police could smell alcohol coming from her person.  After conducting Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, Dahl was remanded at the Anchorage Jail on charges of Assault II, Assault III, Operating under the Influence, Reckless Endangerment, Criminal Mischief, and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance IV for cocaine that corrections employees found in her jacket pocket during processing.
Dahl was not injured.
