The National Weather Service in La Crosse has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for... Allamakee County in northeastern Iowa... Southeastern Houston County in southeastern Minnesota... Southeastern La Crosse County in west central Wisconsin... Southern Juneau County in central Wisconsin... Vernon County in southwestern Wisconsin... Richland County in southwestern Wisconsin... Northern Crawford County in southwestern Wisconsin... Southern Monroe County in west central Wisconsin...

* Until 615 AM CDT.

* At 1233 AM CDT, local law enforcement reported ongoing flash flooding across the area due to earlier heavy rainfall. Numerous road closures and mud slides have been reported, with some evacuations also reported due to rising waters.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Mauston, Waukon, Caledonia, Lansing, Westby, Readstown, Soldiers Grove, Elroy, Hillsboro, Spring Grove, Cashton, Wonewoc, Stoddard, Coon Valley, La Farge, New Albin, Brownsville, Harpers Ferry, and Germantown. Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
