Two uspects arrested for stealing over $10,000.00 in property.

INCIDENT: Grand Theft Investigation
LOCATION: 17800 block of Valley Boulevard, Fontana
SUSPECT(S): Matthew Braun, 23-year-old male, Resident of Fontana, and John Soflin, 38-year-old male, Resident of Fontana
VICTIM(S): Confidential

SUMMARY:
On Monday, August 27, 2018, at 9:51 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff's Station began conducting a grand theft investigation at a commercial business located in the 17800 block of Valley Boulevard in Bloomington. During the investigation, deputies learned two suspects had entered the business and stole approximately $10,000.00 in tools and equipment. Deputies were aided by evidence located at the scene along with detailed surviellance which recorded the theft and helped provide suspect leads.

Deputy Ismael Diaz conducted follow-up investigations. On Saturday, September 1, 2018, Diaz located Matthew Braun near a homeless encampment at Vine Street and Lynwood Street in Bloomington. During the contact, Diaz recovered evidence that linked Braun to the theft and he was subsequently arrested for Grand Theft and booked at West Valley Detention Center.

On Sunday, September 2, 2018, at 9:51 a.m., Diaz, along with Deputy Cody Norris, served a search warrant at a mobile home park located in the 17400 block of Marygold Avenue in Fontana. John Soflin was known to have lived in a shed directly outside one of the mobile homes and was believed to be connected to the theft investigation. During the search warrant, deputies located a large amount of suspected stolen tools and property, suspected controlled substances, and burglary tools along with evidence that connected Soflin to the grand theft investigation. Soflin was arrested for Grand Theft and booked at West Valley Detention Center.
