Advisory

GBPD police arrest a Howard man for theft by fraud for taking vehicles being sold and not paying for them.

On 08-30-18, at about 3:00 pm, GBPD officers were dispatched to the lobby of the Green Bay Police Department for a report of an auto theft. During the course of the investigation, it appears the subject, James Nys from Howard, asks to test drive a vehicle that is being sold privately. He either agrees to buy it but never pays anything for it and keeps it or he leaves a vehicle behind as collateral. Nys then later returns to retrieve the vehicle he dropped off as collateral.

At this point, we are still trying to determine what happened to the vehicles he has taken. It also appears up to this point, Nys is only targeting members of the Hispanic community. Up to today, we have identified several victims. If anybody feels they may be a victim of Nys, please contact your local law enforcement agency.

Lt. David Paral, GBPD
