Red Flag Warning until 09:00PM Thursday
Breezy conditions are expected on Thursday as the pressure gradient tightens overhead and strong winds mix down to the surface. Gusty winds combined with low humidity and warmer than normal temperatures will result in critical fire weather conditions for portions of northwest and west-central Colorado as well as portions of east-central and southeast Utah. The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM to 9 PM MDT Thursday.
* AFFECTED AREA...In Colorado, Fire Weather Zone 290 Paradox Valley Forecast Area. In Utah, Fire Weather Zone 491 Southeast Utah.
* WINDS...Southwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.
* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...10 to 15 percent.
* IMPACTS...Rapid rates of fire growth and spread are possible under these conditions.
* AFFECTED AREAS: SOUTHEAST UTAH ... PARADOX VALLEY
Instructions:
A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.
