HEAT ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8:00 P.M. - WASHINGTON BOROUGH LIBRARY AVAILABLE AS COOLING STATION 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
The National Weather Service has posted a heat advisory for our area-the Washington Borough Library, located at 20 Carlton Avenue, is available as a cooling station from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
* HEAT INDEX VALUES...Maximum heat index values will range from
100 to 104 degrees this afternoon.
* TEMPERATURES...Maximum temperatures will be in the lower to
middle 90s today with surface dewpoints in the lower 70s.
* IMPACTS...The excessive heat will create a health risk,
especially for the elderly and for those with pre-existing
health issues.
Residents are advised to check on neighbors, especially the elderly and disabled and/or those without air conditioning. Know the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke and how to prepare for extreme heat by visiting: https://www.ready.gov/heat
