I wanted to advise you of an update on the stolen motor vehicle that occurred on Lindsley Drive on August 14, 2018. The vehicle was recovered in Jersey City after being involved in a motor vehicle accident. The driver fled the scene prior to the local police arrival. The vehicle was towed to an impound yard and was processed by a Morris Township Police Detective and a Detective from the Morris County Sheriff's Office.
Evidence recovered in the vehicle led to the identity of two juveniles. The juveniles, age 15 and 17 were charged with Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle in Jersey City. The investigation is still active and the identity of the juveniles is held confidential. The Morris Township Police are still actively investigating the incident with hopes of bringing charges for the Theft of the vehicle in our municipality, as well as the thefts on Filmore Drive that same evening. It is believed that the thefts were committed by juvenile males. If this assists you in remembering anything evidential from that evening, please contact our agency at 973-539-0777.
