Officer-Involved Shooting

On Monday, August 27, 2018, at approximately 1:06 PM, a suspect armed with a knife confronted Torrance Police Officers in 18800 block of Florwood Avenue which resulted in an officer-involved shooting.
 
At 11:33 AM, officers initially responded to reports of a suspect destroying property in the 18800 block of Florwood Avenue.  The suspect fled the scene prior to the officers’ arrival.  Officers then completed a preliminary investigation for the crime of vandalism.
 
At approximately 1:00 PM, officers responded back to the residence after they were advised the suspect returned.  Shortly after the officers arrived, an officer-involved shooting occurred and the suspect fled the scene on foot. 
 
Responding officers immediately established a containment to search for the suspect, offer first aid if necessary, and ensure uninvolved community members were safe.
 
The investigation and search are still on-going.
