Sheriff P.J. Tanner encourages Beaufort County residents and guests to stay informed on issues surrounding public safety. To raise awareness of the many services provided by the Sheriff’s Office, a video series, “Lowcountry Law: A Look Inside of the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office,” was launched and premiered on February 2, 2018.
The tenth episode of the "Lowcountry Law" series has been uploaded to the Sheriff's Office YouTube page and is now available for you to view: https://youtu.be/1mZ-D3Eq-s0 . This episode features the Sheriff's Office's volunteer Cold Case Committee. The Sheriff’s Office Cold Case Committee was established in 2010 to assist in the review of unresolved murders and other violent crimes in Beaufort County. The committee consists of 10 volunteer members, who are retired from professional backgrounds in law enforcement, legal and medical fields. Based on their experiences and unique perspectives, the members of the committee provide suggestions to criminal investigators to further Beaufort County’s cold case investigations. In addition, the Cold Case Committee has reviewed unresolved murders from law enforcement agencies in other jurisdictions and remains available to do so.
