Pedestrian Seriously Injured in Central Islip Crash
Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are investigating a crash that seriously injured a pedestrian in Central Islip this evening.
A teenage girl was crossing Wheeler Road near Central Islip High School when she was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue, heading southbound on Wheeler Road at approximately 8 p.m.
The girl, 13, of Islandia, was transported by Central Islip Rescue to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Nissan, Luis Alberto Curranza Caspa, 47, of Central Islip remained at the scene and was not injured.
The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352.
