The Fall 2018 Citizen Police Academy will offer training on a range of law enforcement topics including motor vehicle laws, criminal law, and use of force. In addition, citizens will learn about crime scene processing, defensive tactics and internal affairs. The Academy will culminate with a day of practical exercises where students will handle simulated motor vehicle stops, disputes, and other realistic scenarios. The start date is September 20th. Classes will be held every Thursday night in the training center at police headquarters for 11 weeks from 6:30pm-9:30pm. There will be no class on November 22nd, Thanksgiving Day. Graduation from the Academy is set for December 6th.
The Academy size is limited, so residents are encouraged to complete their application as soon as possible. In order to be admitted into the Academy community members must complete an application and go through a screening process.
