Incident: DUI-Injury Motorcycle Collision

Suspect(s): Hank W. LaFranchi, 30 year old, Petaluma resident
On the above date and time, Petaluma PD officers were dispatched to a motorcycle collision in the 400 block of Hopper Street. Petaluma PD and Petaluma FD arrived on scene and determined it was a solo motorcycle collision. The driver of the motorcycle, Suspect LaFranchi, sustained major injuries and was transported to Memorial Hospital. Petaluma PD Traffic Team was called out to investigate the collision based upon the serious injuries. Based upon witness statements and a preliminary investigation, it appears the driver of the motorcycle was speeding northbound on Hopper Street and was unable to make a turn in the road. The driver went off the road, struck a utility box and railroad tracks and came to rest in a field. It also appears the driver was not wearing a helmet. Hopper Street was closed for approximately 4 hours, while the Traffic Team investigated the collision.
An odor of alcohol was detected on the driver of the motorcycle and an officer obtained a blood sample for analysis. As of this morning the driver was in stable condition with major head injuries at Memorial Hospital. If anyone witnessed the collision, please contact Traffic Officer Mike Pierre at 707-778-4372.
