On August 19, 2018, at 3 p.m. Gibson County Central Dispatch received a 911 report of an accident with injuries on US 41 at County Road 100 North. Upon arriving Deputy Jennifer Loesch and Deputy U.B. Smith began an investigation into the accident and determined that a Silver 2008 Honda minivan was stopped facing northbound on US 41 at the stoplight when they were rear ended at highway speeds by a 2000 Jeep Wrangler. Of the five people in the Honda minivan two were taken to area hospitals by ambulance for injuries sustained from the accident. A passenger in the Jeep Wrangler was also taken to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the accident. During the investigation Deputy Loesch detected the odor of alcohol coming from the driver of the Jeep Wrangler. Deputy U.B. Smith conducted a roadside DUI investigation that resulted in the arrest of 22 year old Carson Lane of Vincennes Indiana on Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated involving an accident with serious bodily injury. Mr. Lane remains in custody on a $750 bond.
