UPDATE**#LASD Homicide Assisting Culver City Police Department with Officer Involved Shooting Investigation
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Culver City officer-involved shooting. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 18, 2018, at approximately 1:50 p.m., on the 4100 block of Mentone Avenue, Culver City.
Detectives have learned that Culver City Police Department responded to an apartment complex on the 10400 Block of Culver Boulevard, Culver City. The call was regarding domestic incident between a brother and sister. As the officers were responding, they received an update to respond to the 4100 Block of Mentone Avenue, Culver City, regarding a male chasing a female with a large knife.
Once officers arrived, they contacted the male, and the male charged officers armed with the knife, at which time an officer-involved shooting occurred. The suspect, a male White, 30 years old, sustained at least one gunshot wound to his body. He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounce dead.
The victim, a female white, 27 years old, suffered multiple stab wounds to her upper body. She was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. She is expected to survive her injuries.
A large kitchen knife was recovered at the scene.
No civilians or officers were injured.
The investigation is still ongoing.
