PRESS RELEASE
For Immediate Release Saturday August 18, 2018
Issued By:
Sergeant Lance Novello, Petaluma PD, (707) 778-4372, [email protected]
Incident: Officer Injured After Suspect Resists Arrest
Additional: 148(a)(1) PC
Report Number: 18-3805
Occurred Date: August 18, 2018
Occurred Time: 2:11 AM
Location: 125 Petaluma Boulevard North
Suspect(s): Jeremy Crowley, a 21 year old Petaluma resident
A Petaluma PD officer heard sounds of metal crashing and an alarm sounding to the rear of a business in the 100 block of Petaluma Boulevard North, and then saw four subjects on the roof of the four story building. The officer used a spotlight to illuminate the subjects, which caused them to flee off the building and through an alleyway.
Other officers contacted the subjects and ordered them to stop. Three did, but one, later identified as Jeremy Crowley, put his head down in a tackling type position and attempted to run through one of the officers. The move caused both to fall to the ground, and the momentum caused the officer to spin into a raised concrete support, causing facial injuries. The officer was able to detain and arrest Crowley, who received a minor forehead injury as well. Neither required medical treatment.
The three subjects who cooperated with officers were released without charges after it appeared they only accessed the roof by pulling an emergency fire escape down. Crowley, who had been drinking prior to the incident, was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for resisting arrest.
