#LASD Compton Station Detectives are Investigating a Deputy-Involved Shooting, 900blk of N. Thorson Av, Compton
Compton Station Watch Commander advises of a deputy-involved shooting tonight, Friday, August 17, 2018, at approximately 11:20 p.m. The incident occurred on the 900 block of Thorson Avenue, Compton.
Detectives have learned, deputies were in pursuit of a reckless driving, under the influence suspect. While attempting to evade deputies, the suspect vehicle crashed, and two suspect’s exited the vehicle, at which time a deputy-involved shooting occurred. The two suspects fled the scene and deputies set up a containment. It was unknown at that time if either of the suspects were struck by gunfire.
There were two additional occupants of the suspect vehicle that remained at the scene, and were detained. Approximately 3 hours later, the two additional suspects that fled the scene were located and detained. It was discovered at that time, that neither of them were struck by gunfire.
All suspect were male Blacks in their 20's.
Deputies are conducting an article search of the area for the suspects weapons.
No deputies were injured.

Whenever a deputy-involved shooting occurs involving Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies, and no one is hit by the gunfire, multiple investigations immediately begin at the scene. These include separate investigations by the Sheriff's Internal Affairs Bureau as well as sheriff's station or Detective Division investigators. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department immediately notifies the Office of the Inspector General who sends a representative to the incident scene and provides independent oversight throughout the investigative process. Once concluded, every aspect of the shooting is reviewed by the Sheriff's Executive Force Review Committee.
