A Needles man injures his girlfriends pet Chihuahua and is arrested for felony Animal Abuse

INCIDENT: 597(a) P.C.- Felony Animal Abuse
LOCATION: 200 Block of San Clemente Street, Needles
SUSPECT: Jvar Brooks, 24 years old, resident of Needles
SUMMARY:
On August 15, 2018 Deputy F. Hernandez of the Colorado River Station responded to a report of Animal Abuse at the 200 block of San Clemente St. in the City of Needles. The reporting party stated her boyfriend, Jvar Brooks, injured her pet Chihuahua named "8 Ball" to the extent the dog was unable to stand or walk. Jvar Brooks, who was presently out of custody on a $50,000.00 bond for an unrelated weapons charge, was arrested for PC 597, Felony Animal Abuse. Brooks was transported and booked at the Colorado River Station Jail where he is being held with bail set at $100,000.
UPDATE:
On August 16, 2018 the owner of the dog went to the veterinary clinic and discovered the dog had severe internal bleeding and was euthanized.
