Deputies arrest Heriberto Rodriguez for starting a fire in the wash area at Vista Rd and Riverview Rd in Helendale

SUSPECT: Heriberto Rodriguez, 50 years-old, of Helendale
VICTIM: STATE OF CALIFORNIA
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at 7:30pm, Heriberto Rodriguez used a BIC Lighter to start a fire in the wash area between Vista Road and Riverview Road in Helendale. The fire grew out of control and burned approximately 10 acres of shrubs before the fire department extinguished the flames.
Rodriguez attempted to flee the scene. With the assistance of witnesses, Rodriguez was apprehended down the road from the fire. Rodriguez was in the possession of functioning lighters at the time of his arrest. Rodriguez was arrested and booked at High Desert Detention Center in lieu of $250,000.00 bail. Rodriguez is due to appear in Victor Valley Superior Court on August 17, 2018.
