INCIDENT: PC 148.1(a) False Bomb Threat

LOCATION: 17000 block of Upland Avenue, Fontana

SUSPECT: Lila Madrigal, 39 years old, resident of Fontana

SUMMARY:
On Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at 8:58 a.m., deputies from the Fontana Sheriff's Station conducted an investigation into a bomb threat at a commercial warehouse in the unincorporated area of Fontana. Lila Madrigal reported to law enforcement that she saw her roommate mixing chemicals inside their residence to make a bomb. Madrigal reported the roommate disclosed he intended to detonate the device at the warehouse in retaliation for his recent firing.

The Sheriff's Department Bombs and Arson Division, along with members of the Fontana Police Department, collectively worked the investigation with deputies and responded to Madrigal's residence in the 17000 block of Upland Avenue in the City of Fontana. Through the course of the investigation, investigators inspected the residence and found no evidence which indicated any chemicals were mixed to make a bomb. As the investigation continued, it was discovered Madrigal falsely reported the bomb threat and was likely connected to landlord/tenant issues between her and the roommate.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Madrigal was arrested for Penal Code 148.1(a) Making a False Bomb Threat, a felony, and booked into the Central Detention Center with bail set at $25,000.
