Please keep your dog on a leash - it's the law!
Dogs must be kept on a leash (not to exceed 6 feet in length) at all times when out for a walk – it’s the law (MBMC 5.01.040). Manhattan Beach Police Department Animal Control Officers will be strictly enforcing dog-off-leash violations.
Leash laws are also enforced at City parks. Want to exercise and/or socialize your dog off-leash? Use officially designated off-leash dog runs located at Polliwog Park, Live Oak Park, and Marine Avenue Park. Please remember, dogs must be leashed until they are inside the posted boundary for the off-leash dog area.
So, unless your dog is in your home or backyard, or in a City-designated dog-run, they must be on a leash, and that leash cannot exceed 6 feet in length.
Remember to always keep identification on your dog’s collar when you venture out. Per MBMC 5.01.200, it is required that your dog have its Manhattan Beach dog license tag attached to its collar.
Always carry doggy bags so you can clean up after your pet and properly dispose of waste. Per MBMC 5.01.310, you are required to carry in your possession a suitable wrapper, bag, or container to pick up after your pet.
Thank you for your help in keeping our community safe and clean!
