Update Regarding Water Main Break on Livingston Avenue
New Brunswick Water Utility staff are currently repairing a water main break on Livingston Avenue between Delavan Street and Comstock Street.
Residents in the following areas may be experiencing service disruptions as as result of the break:
Delavan Street between Lee Avenue and Joyce Kilmer Avenue
Livingston Avenue between Delavan Street and Comstock Street
Lee Avenue between Comstock Street and Sandford Street
The expected duration of service disruption is currently unknown as our crew works to repair the break.
Livingston Avenue is closed to traffic in both directions between Comstock Street and Delavan Street and will remain so into the afternoon hours to accommodate the repair. Detours are in place.
Once service is restored, hydrant flushing will be performed as part of the repair and maintenance process. Some water discoloration may occur during flushing, which happens as a result of dislodged iron deposits in water mains.
Water remains safe for use, but the New Brunswick Water Utility advises against running hot water or doing laundry while discoloration is present, as iron deposits may accumulate in hot water heaters and possibly stain laundry.
