Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 04:15PM

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northwestern Rutherford County in western North Carolina... Northeastern Henderson County in western North Carolina... Central Polk County in western North Carolina...

* Until 415 PM EDT.

* At 327 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 10 miles northwest of Columbus, or 5 miles south of Bat Cave, moving east at 15 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect wind damage to trees and power lines.

* Locations impacted include... Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave, Shingle Hollow, Green Hill, Mill Spring, Gerton, Edneyville, Lake Adger and Dana.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HENDERSON, NC ... POLK, NC ... RUTHERFORD, NC

Instructions:

Brief damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines over small areas. A brief period of large hail is also possible. Seek shelter inside an interior room. Lake Adger and Lake Lure will be affected by this storm. Get away from the water and seek shelter in an interior room in the nearest shelter. If you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning.
