Seeking public help with animal abuse case in Santa Rosa

The Sonoma County Animal Control Services in conducting an investigation of animal abuse and is requesting assistance from the public. On Friday, July 27th at about 3:15 PM someone located a backpack on the side of the road at Todd Rd. near Stony Point Rd. in western Santa Rosa.

 

Inside the backpack was a small dog that was deceased. The dog was a female, tan and white Chihuahua mix, about 8 months old. The dog was found in an “Outdoor Products” black backpack with red straps and had a black leash. See attached picture.

 

A veterinarian performed a necropsy on the dog and found that it died of asphyxiation by strangulation. The dog did not have a microchip.
