Advisory

HEAT ADVISORY EXTENDED THRU 6PM WEDS. HEAT INDICES MID 90'S-100. EXTREME HEAT CAN CAUSE ILLNESS & DEATH AMONG AT-RISK POPULATIONS.

WHERE: The entire Tri-State Area today. The Heat Advisory has been extended intoWednesday for NYC, northeast New Jersey (except western Passaic County), Nassau County, and southern Westchester County.


WHEN: Through 8pm this evening for the Lower Hudson Valley, southern Connecticut, and Suffolk County. The Advisory continues through 6pm Wednesday for the rest of the area.



Potential Hazards and Impacts:


Hazards:
Max Temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s .
Max Heat Indices in the mid 90s to around 100.
Impacts:
The heat and humidity may cause heat stress during outdoor exertion or extended exposure.
Extreme heat can cause illness and death among the at-risk population who can not stay cool.
Seniors, infants, and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at an increased risk from the heat.
