The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
August 2nd
0821 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 25-year-old Newark female for her outstanding warrant when she self-surrendered in the Police Department Lobby. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
0919 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 45-year-old Fremont male for possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a fictitious check and an outstanding warrant in the Police Department Lobby. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
1352 Hours: Officers Piquette and Lenz responded to the New Park Mall parking lot for a pair of auto burglaries. Both burglaries occurred within an hour of the time of call and the loss was miscellaneous bags from the respective vehicles.
1624 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 27-year-old Newark female for possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on Dairy Avenue near Magnolia Street. The suspect was issued a citation and released.
1705 Hours: Officer Piquette investigated the theft of a gray 2002 Ford Focus (CA license #6PUA099) on the 36500 block of Locust Street.
2244 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 23-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant as he exited his vehicle on the 6400 block of Baine Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
2315 Hours: Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a 38-year-old transient male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
2356 Hours: Officers responded to a single vehicle non-injury accident on Willow Street at Enterprise Drive. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old Newark male was arrested for driving under the influence and was transported to the Police Station where he was later issued a citation and released.
August 3rd
1757 Hours: Officer Slavazza investigated a stolen Chevrolet Malibu on the 39900 block of Cedar Boulevard. The vehicle was found in Fremont via the OnStar system at 2041 Hours. The vehicle was released to the registered owner.
1834 Hours: Officer Rivas investigated the theft of the license plates from a vehicle on the 34900 block of Newark Boulevard.
2043 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Avenue. A 43-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
0048 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 28-year-old Fremont male for driving under the influence and possession of brass knuckles during a traffic stop on Central Avenue at Filbert Street. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
August 4th
0723 Hours: Officers responded to a disturbance on the 4900 block of Farnham Drive. A 23-year-old Hayward male was contacted and arrested for violation of a court order. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
0805 Hours: Officer Riddles investigated a residential burglary on the 37700 block of Cedar Boulevard.
1131 Hours: Officer Wang investigated a grab and run theft from Macy’s, NewPark Mall.
1801 hours: Officers responded to a solo vehicle non-injury collision on Mowry Avenue at Rockrose Drive. A 34-year-old San Jose female was arrested for driving under the influence and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.
1939 hours: Officer Rivas contacted and arrested a 39-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant during a routine traffic stop on Thornton Avenue at Hwy. 880. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
August 5th
1035 Hours: Officer Wallace investigated an auto burglary on the 39100 block of Levi Street. There was no notable loss.
1207 Hours: Officer Rivera investigated a stolen black 2007 Honda Motorcycle (CA License #18Y4246) on the 6200 block of Joaquin Murieta Drive.
2027 Hours: Officer Palacio contacted and arrested a 38-year-old Newark male for his outstanding warrant during a pedestrian stop on the 36200 block of Ruschin Drive. The suspect was issued a citation and released. A 33-year-old Newark female was also arrested for her outstanding warrant and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.
2232 Hours: Officer Palacio witnessed a 19-year-old Newark male “spinning donuts” in the intersection of Thornton Avenue and Chestnut Street. The driver was issued a citation for reckless driving and for not having proof of insurance. The vehicle was towed from the scene and impounded.
