MAIT deputies investigate a fatal single vehicle collision on Hwy. 18; two unidentified occupants fled from the scene

LOCATION: State Highway 18 / Pawnee Road, Apple Valley
INVOLVED PARTIES: Three unidentified males – one male deceased
SUMMARY:
On August 4, 2018 at 10:07 p.m., deputies from the Apple Valley Station responded to an unknown injury traffic collision in the area of State 18 Highway and Pawnee Road. Through investigation and witness statements, deputies established the collision was a single vehicle rollover. The probable driver was fully ejected during the rollover of the vehicle and died from his injuries at the scene. Witnesses also reported having seen two additional unknown Caucasian or Hispanic males crawl out of the vehicle and flee the scene.
The cause and events leading to the collision are still under investigation. Investigators are seeking additional witnesses to this collision and urge anyone with information to contact the Apple Valley Station at (760)240-7400.
