The National Weather Service in Upton NY has issued a

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for... Eastern Passaic County in northeastern New Jersey... Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey... Northern Westchester County in southeastern New York... Putnam County in southeastern New York... Rockland County in southeastern New York...

* Until 945 AM EDT.

* At 738 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. One and a half to two and a half inches of rain has fallen over areas that have received substantial rain in recent days.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Paterson, Passaic, Wayne, New City, Paramus, Ossining, Ridgewood, Peekskill, Monsey, Nanuet, Ramsey, Haverstraw, Pompton Lakes, Suffern and Mahopac.

* AFFECTED AREAS: WESTCHESTER, NY ... PASSAIC, NJ ... ROCKLAND, NY ... BERGEN, NJ ... PUTNAM, NY

Instructions:

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely. A Flood Advisory means river or stream flows are elevated, or ponding of water in urban or other areas is occurring or is imminent.
