Original Message:
We are currently investigating a major traffic collision on Mission Blvd., just north of I680 in the Mission San Jose area.
At 2:16 p.m. several 911 calls came in reporting that a dump truck had overturned as it exited from southbound I680 and made the right turn onto Mission Blvd north. The truck crossed the raised center median, dumped gravel and landed on top of a Ford sedan, crushing it. Both drivers sustained visible injuries, considered non-life threatening.
Mission Blvd is closed in both directions from I680 (north) to Driscoll Rd. The clean-up will be extensive and the roads are expected to be closed for a few hours. Unfortunately this is right in the middle of the Friday evening commute.
Fremont Fire and Transportation Engineering are also involved with the investigation and have beeen extremely helpful with this incident.
Please avoid the area until further notice.
