Homeowner calls police as his garage is being burglarized; deputies arrest suspect and recover property

INCIDENT: Residential Burglary
LOCATION: 25400 block of 33rd Street, San Bernardino
SUSPECT: Antonio Castillo, 21-year-old resident of San Bernardino
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, Deputies assigned to the Central Sheriff’s Station responded to a burglary in progress call on 33rd Street. Sheriff’s dispatch advised the victim's house alarm went off and he heard a loud pop. The alarm notified the victim it was coming from the garage door and when the victim looked outside to his garage door, he observed a male inside his garage loading a dolly with property. The property taken was several power tools, including the dolly. The victim described the suspect as a male approximately in his 20's, wearing dark colored clothing and a black baseball type cap and carrying a green backpack. The victim observed the suspect loading his belongings and leaving westbound on 33rd St. toward Dogwood St.
A short time later, deputies located Antonio Castillo, who matched the description of the burglary suspect. When deputies located Castillo, he was walking south on Dogwood St and the victim's property was approximately two houses north of Castillo on the street. Inside Castillo's backpack was a crowbar which was used to force open the garage door and other property belonging to the victim. An in-field lineup was conducted and the victim was able to positively identify Castillo as the burglary suspect.
Castillo was transported and booked into the Central Detention Center, PC 459- Burglary and active warrants.
