Sheriff's Major Accident Investigation Team investigates a fatal collision involving a vehicle striking a pedestrian

INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: D Street (Highway 18) / Sixth Street, Victorville
SUMMARY:
On Wednesday, August 1, 2018, at 1:19 A.M., Deputies from the Victorville Station and rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department and American Medical Response responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision near the intersection of D Street and Sixth Street in the city of Victorville. Deputies determined that a gray Chevrolet Impala was traveling west on D Street and struck the pedestrian in the roadway. A second vehicle, a silver Dodge Ram truck, also traveling westbound on D Street struck the pedestrian.
The pedestrian suffered major injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. Both drivers were uninjured, remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The Victorville City Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) is continuing the investigation of the collision. D Street was closed in both directions for several hours while investigators processed the scene for evidence and interviewed witnesses. D Street was reopened in both directions at approximately 11:00 A.M.
