INCIDENT: Fatal Traffic Collision
LOCATION: Peach Avenue / Donert Street, Hesperia
VICTIM: Pending notification to next of kin / Adult male from Apple Valley
SUMMARY:
On August 1, 2018, at about 11:35 AM, Deputies from the Hesperia Station, along with rescue personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department, responded to a reported vehicle vs. motorcycle traffic collision near the intersection of Peach Avenue and Donert Street. Deputies arrived on scene and found the motorcycle rider, an adult male, down in the roadway suffering from major injuries as a result of the collision. The other driver, also an adult male, was found to have minor injuries. The motorcycle rider was transported by ground ambulance to Desert Valley Hospital, where despite efforts by doctors, he was pronounced deceased. The other driver was treated at the scene and released
The Hesperia Station Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) conducted the investigation and determined that the motorcycle operator was headed north on Peach Avenue on his 2012 Harley Davidson when for reasons unknown at this time, crossed over the double yellow lines directly into the path of the other vehicle, a 2011 Kia SUV, which was traveling south on Peach Avenue. The head on collision blocked both lanes of Peach Avenue, which was closed in both directions until about 2:20 PM while investigators processed the scene.
The collision remains under investigation and any witnesses are asked to contact Deputy Eric Getts or Sergeant Doug Hubbard from the Hesperia Station.
