Flood Advisory until 12:45AM Thursday

The National Weather Service in Raleigh has issued a

* Flood Advisory for... Northwestern Alamance County in central North Carolina... Forsyth County in central North Carolina... Davidson County in central North Carolina... Randolph County in central North Carolina... Stanly County in central North Carolina... Guilford County in central North Carolina...

* Until 1245 AM EDT

* At 939 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated numerous showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain moving north northeast at 20 mph. Several locations late this afternoon and early evening received between one and three inches of rain. In addition, much of the region has received two to four inches since the weekend. This additional rainfall will quickly run off, causing rain swollen creeks and streams to rise, and cause minor flooding in the advisory area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include... Greensboro, Winston-Salem, High Point, Burlington, Asheboro, Lexington, Albemarle, Graham, Randleman and North Carolina Zoo.

* AFFECTED AREAS: DAVIDSON, NC ... ALAMANCE, NC ... STANLY, NC ... RANDOLPH, NC ... FORSYTH, NC ... GUILFORD, NC

Instructions:

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of floods and flash floods. If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising. Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.
