Coffee shop-crime prevention tips

Many times after the fact, we think about what we could have done to prevent valuables from being stolen. Here are a few tips to help you protect your laptops, personal electronics and other personal belongings.

-Keep your valuables with you. Don’t leave valuables in your vehicle, even for a short time. If you have to leave valuables or backpacks, etc. in your vehicle, keep it out of sight. Park somewhere BEFORE you get to your destination, power down all electronics and place the items in the trunk. Thieves are watching and placing a laptop bag or backpack in your trunk when you park and leave is a good way to find it gone when you return. If you leave the power on, thieves can track and locate your device.
-Use a laptop cable lock to secure your computer a table while using it (Bonus tip-this prevents laptops thefts at offices as well)
-Be aware of your surroundings and report suspicious activity to the police.
-Be prepared. Back up your data frequently, register your device so you can track it and record the serial number.
