INCIDENT: Mail Theft

LOCATION: 19000 Block Bear Valley Road, Apple Valley

SUSPECT: Joshua Thompson, 32 years old, a resident of Oak Hills


SUMMARY:
On Saturday, July 28, 2018, at approximately 7:35 p.m., Sheriff’s Dispatch received multiple calls regarding mail theft throughout the Town of Apple Valley. Multiple witnesses described a blue Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by a white male adult who was seen stealing mail out of mailboxes. During the investigation, an area check was conducted in the 13000 block of Spring Valley Parkway in the City of Victorville. Deputy Cullum located a vehicle matching the description given by witnesses with an adult male in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. Deputy Cullum made contact with the suspect, Joshua Thompson, and observed numerous pieces of mail in the vehicle. Upon further inspection of the vehicle deputy, Cullum located hundreds of pieces of mail, credit cards, suspected methamphetamine, and a crowbar. The suspect Joshua Thompson had a no-bail felony warrant for probation violation of Post Release Community Supervision (PRCS). He was arrested and booked into the High Desert Detention Center. The investigation and stolen mail was turned over to the Federal Postal Investigator. The Postal Service will return the stolen mail to its owners after the mail has been sorted and cataloged.
