A short time ago, Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Family Dollar store, 361 Shanklin Road in Burton. Employees reported that an unknown African-American male subject entered the store, presented a handgun and demanded cash. According to the employees, the subject was wearing dark sweatpants, a black T-shirt and had a blue bandana over his face. The employees advised that the subject fled the store in an unknown direction with an undetermined amount of cash.

Residents in the area of Shanklin Road in Burton can expect an increased law enforcement presence over the next few hours.
