On Wednesday July 25th around 8:00 PM, APD officers were at the America’s Best Value Inn at 3930 East IH-40, looking for a male with a felony warrant for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officers observed the male exit a room with a handgun in his hand. The suspect attempted to conceal himself behind other civilians. The suspect would not drop the gun and was shot by an officer. The suspect died at the scene. No one else was injured. The name of the suspect will be released after next of kin has been notified.
