The City of Palos Heights 4th of July Celebration will begin on Friday, July 3rd, 2009, with a festival at Memorial Park (Rt 83/76th Ave). The festival will include many family activities and a fireworks display which will start around 9:15PM. For those attending the fireworks for the 1st time and are wondering where to pick a spot, they are launched from the west end of Lake Katherine. The festival will conclude at 12:00AM.

On the Saturday, July 4th, the City of Palos Heights will celebrate by having an Independence Day Parade on Harlem Ave at 10:00AM. Harlem Ave will be closed between Rt 83 and 127th St from approximately 9:00AM to 12:00PM. After the parade, the celebration will move to Memorial Park (Rt83/76th Ave) for a Picnic in the Park from 12:00PM - 4:00PM. The picnic will include many family activities as well.

The Palos Heights Police Department would like to wish everyone a safe and happy 4th of July weekend. The annual festival/fireworks draw large crowds, so please use caution and have patience while driving to/from the festivities, as there are a lot of pedestrians and children. Please arrive early in order to obtain parking and a favorite spot to watch the fireworks.
