PRESS RELEASE: Suspect Arrested in Multiple Vehicle Burglaries

The Manhattan Beach Police Department conducted an investigation into several window smash vehicle burglaries that occurred in Manhattan Beach between the dates of July 12 – 19, 2018.  Manhattan Beach Police Department Investigators identified Camille Palmer Fortune as the suspect.  She was captured on video surveillance using credit cards stolen from the vehicle burglaries.
 
Manhattan Beach Police Department personnel conducted undercover surveillance of Fortune.  On July 21, 2018, Fortune was arrested during a traffic stop by Manhattan Beach Police Department Police Officers in the city of Redondo Beach after she was suspected of committing a vehicle burglary.  During a search of her vehicle, a hammer was found that was believed to be the burglary tool used to commit the vehicle burglaries.  Fortune was booked at the Manhattan Beach Police Department jail.
 
On July 24, 2018, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office filed 7 counts (two counts of 459PC – Burglary, two counts 594PC - Vandalism, one count 459.5PC - Shoplifting, one count 466PC – Possession of Burglary Tools, one count 484gPC – Fraudulent Use of Credit Card).  Fortune is currently in custody at the Los Angeles County Jail and her bail is set at $65,000.
