Details: On Sunday, July 22, 2018 at 2:00 am, CPD officers were on patrol in the 2000 block of North Avenue and were waved down by a subject reporting a shooting that just occurred. Officers were advised the suspects had just left in a white sedan travelling W/B on North Avenue. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle, which turned S/B near Denton Avenue where two male subjects were seen fleeing on foot from the vehicle. The suspect vehicle then fled from the area at a high rate of speed turning E/B on Bell Avenue heading towards Dairy Avenue. Ultimately the suspect vehicle became disabled after swerving out of control and colliding with the sidewalk curb in the area of Patterson Avenue and Dairy Avenue. The driver of the suspect vehicle exited the vehicle and fled on foot towards Dairy Avenue. A search in the area for the three suspects involved was conducted but officers were not able to locate them. A firearm was located inside the suspect vehicle, along with additional evidence of the crime. Officers made contact with the subjects who reported the incident occurred in the 2000 block of North Avenue. The incident began when the suspects attempted to rob a victim of his property. A physical confrontation ensued during the robbery and one of the suspects fired a shot in very close proximity to the face of one of the victims, which resulted in moderate injuries to the victim. The injured victim was transported by ambulance to a local hospital and treated for a facial wound. Officers conducted interviews with witnesses at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.
