* portions of North Carolina and upstate South Carolina, including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alexander, Avery, Burke Mountains, Cabarrus, Caldwell Mountains, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Gaston, Greater Burke, Greater Caldwell, Greater Rutherford, Iredell, Lincoln, McDowell Mountains, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Polk Mountains, Rowan, Rutherford Mountains, Union, and Yancey. In upstate South Carolina, Cherokee, Chester, and York.

* Thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall will develop again across the area today through this evening. Rainfall totals of up to 2 inches are possible with these storms, perhaps in under an hour. Flash flooding can develop with such rapid rainfall rates, or where storms move over areas where heavy rain fell recently. Urban areas may also see flooding with lower amounts.
