Flash Flood Watch until 06:00AM Tuesday

Conditions remain favorable for heavy rainfall across much of the region, once storms redevelop as expected. The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of North Carolina and upstate South Carolina, including the following areas, in North Carolina, Alexander, Avery, Burke Mountains, Cabarrus, Caldwell Mountains, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie, Eastern McDowell, Eastern Polk, Gaston, Greater Burke, Greater Caldwell, Greater Rutherford, Iredell, Lincoln, McDowell Mountains, Mecklenburg, Mitchell, Polk Mountains, Rowan, Rutherford Mountains, Union, and Yancey. In upstate South Carolina, Cherokee, Chester, and York.

* until 6 AM EDT Tuesday

* Thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall will redevelop on an isolated basis overnight, especially in the foothills and near the Blue Ridge Escarpment. Rainfall totals of up to 2 inches are possible with these storms, perhaps in under an hour. Flash flooding could develop with such rapid rainfall rates, or storms move over areas where heavy rain fell recently.
