On July 3rd the police department took a burglary to garage report, in the 400 block of East Washington Street. On July 8th the police department took a burglary report at Ott's Tavern, on East Washington Street. On July 11th, upon an extensive investigation, a suspect was taken into custody. On July 13th the St. Clair County State's Attorney's Office charged the defendant, Matthew C. Rautman age 32 of Columbia, with two counts of Burglary (a Class 2 Felony) and one count of Theft (a Class 3 Felony). His bond was set at a total of $80,000. The Columbia Police Department assisted with this investigation.
