The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... West central Rutherford County in western North Carolina... Northeastern Henderson County in western North Carolina... Northwestern Polk County in western North Carolina... Southeastern Buncombe County in western North Carolina...

* Until 645 PM EDT.

* At 555 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 8 miles northeast of Hendersonville, or 5 miles west of Bat Cave, moving southeast at 15 mph. HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Minor hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.

* Locations impacted include... Arden, Mills River, Fletcher, Fairview In Buncombe County, Mountain Home, Chimney Rock State Park, Bat Cave, Asheville Airport, Dana and Gerton.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HENDERSON, NC ... BUNCOMBE, NC ... POLK, NC ... RUTHERFORD, NC
