WANTED: Walter Sidney Mitchell, 47, for murder; considered armed and dangerous; call 652-4000 with info concerning his whereabouts
Authorities are searching for a suspect in a homicide that occurred on the night of Friday, July 20.
Walter Sidney “Walt” Mitchell, 47, is wanted for murder in the death of 36-year-old Matthew Glenn Pressley, of 711 Walnut Grove Road in Nebo.
At approximately 11:25 p.m. Friday, deputies and investigators responded to Pressley’s residence off Harmony Grove Road to assist with a medical call. That’s when they found Pressley inside the house suffering from a fatal head wound.
Mitchell and Pressley were roommates, and detectives received information during their investigation that Mitchell was involved in the killing. However, authorities have been unable to locate the suspect since the incident occurred.
He has been known to travel in western North Carolina and Arkansas. He is also wanted on a parole violation.
Mitchell is described as a white male who stands 6 feet tall, is bald, has blue eyes and has a pierced left ear; scars on his neck, right knee and right leg; and tattoos on his back and both arms. He was last seen driving a gold Honda passenger car with the clear coat fading and/or peeling off.
Mitchell is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached.
Anyone with information concerning Mitchell’s whereabouts is asked to call the McDowell County 911 communications center at 652-4000.
