Two vehicle accident with one fatality U.S. 278 westbound near the Gatherings in Bluffton. SCHP investigating. 
At approximately 3:00 p.m. there was a two vehicle accident on U.S. 278 westbound near the Gatherings in Bluffton. There was one fatality as a result of the accident, no other injuries have been reported. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the accident and Sheriff's Office deputies are assisting with traffic flow. We recommend those traveling off of Hilton Head Island to avoid the area of the accident by using the Bluffton Parkway flyover. Thank you for your patience.
