News Story - Oak Park Burglary Suspect Arrested

Nature of Incident: Oak Park Vehicle Burglar Arrested in Woodland Hills Report Number: 18-98560 Location: 5400 Block of Sadring Avenue, Woodland Hills Date & Time: July 19, 2018 at 1045 hours Unit(s) Responsible: Thousand Oaks Police Department Patrol / ECPS Investigations Bureau (S)uspects, (V)ictims, (P)arty, (D)ecedent City of Residence Age (S) Joshua Zankan (V) Adult Male Woodland Hills Oak Park 45 54 Narrative: On June 26, 2018, Ventura County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Savoy Court in the City of Oak Park for a report of a vehicle burglary. The patrol deputy conducted an initial investigation and determined and unknown suspect illegally entered the victim’s vehicle and stole property valuing approximately $5,600.00. The patrol deputy also obtained recorded video from the victim’s home surveillance system that captured the suspect committing the crime. Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Detectives took over the investigation and were able to identify the suspect as Joshua Zankan of Woodland Hills. Zankan was previously identified as a person of interest in other vehicle burglaries in the Oak Park area. Detectives obtained a search warrant for Zankan’s residence which is located in the 5400 block of Sadring Avenue in Woodland Hills. On July 19, 2018, at approximately 1045 hours, Joshua Zankan was arrested in front of this residence without incident. The search warrant was served and detectives located the victims’ property inside Zankan’s residence. In addition, evidence from a 2017 vehicle burglary and identity theft case was also located in Zankan’s residence. Zankan was transported to back to Ventura County and booked for violating Penal Code section 487 – Grand Theft. Zankan’s bail was set at $40,000.00.
