Police Make Pair of Arrests in Shopping Center Thefts

Palo Alto, CA – Police have arrested four suspects in connection with two separate retail thefts that occurred in the last ten days at Stanford Shopping Center. On Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at about 2:45 p.m., our 24-hour dispatch center received a call reporting a theft that had just occurred at Urban Outfitters located at the Stanford Shopping Center. The investigation revealed that an employee observed two female suspects loading numerous articles of clothing into bags and running away from the store. A witness followed the suspects and was able to obtain a license plate number of the getaway car. Through follow up investigation, detectives were able to identify one of the suspects as 26 year old Tonisha Harris of Fremont. Detectives arrested Harris in Hayward on Monday, July 16 and booked her into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on charges of felony commercial burglary and a violation of probation. The other female suspect has not yet been identified and is outstanding. On Tuesday, July 17, at about 2:30 p.m., an officer on patrol at Stanford Shopping Center observed two females committing a theft of numerous articles of clothing from Victoria’s Secret. Both suspects were taken into custody outside the story without incident, while a third suspect was located and arrested in a nearby parked vehicle. All three suspects were transported to the Santa Clara County Main Jail. 31 year old Shameia Williams of Bay Point was booked on charges of felony commercial burglary, misdemeanor possession of drugs, and a probation violation. 35 year old Andrea Randle of Antioch was booked on charges of commercial burglary and conspiracy (both felonies) and a misdemeanor warrant out of the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office for shoplifting. 28 year old Veronica Payne of Antioch was booked for commercial burglary. Investigators do not have any information to indicate that the July 10 and July 17 incidents are related.
